IMPORTANT: THIS IS NOT A BEGINNER COURSE

For INITIAL applicants, completing a 16-hour CCW training course (split into two 8-hour days) and passing the qualification is mandatory. RENEWAL applicants are required to complete an 8-hour CCW training course and pass the qualification. All training must be conducted through a certified vendor approved by the Riverside County Sheriff. Fight or Flight is proud to be an approved and certified training provider.

All applicants should arrive with the necessary skills to safely draw from a concealed position, engage targets at three distances, and achieve a minimum passing score of 80%. Firearm handling skills will also be assessed to ensure compliance with safety standards.

Course Curriculum:

Day 1: Introduction to CCW laws, self-defense liability insurance, anatomy of fear, equipment selection, aftermath of defensive shootings, and a mental health/suicide awareness discussion.

Day 2: Transporting guns by vehicle and plane, situational awareness, Interaction with police, handgun modifications, written exam, and firearm qualification.  

Who Should Take This Course:

This course is specifically designed for experienced shooters pursuing a California CCW permit through the Riverside County Sheriff. THIS IS NOT A BEGINNER COURSE. Applicants must already be proficient in drawing from a concealed position, engaging targets at varied distances, and achieving a passing score of 80% or higher. This course is not suitable for novice or beginner shooters.

Course Requirements:

  • Applicants must be residents of Riverside County or serviced cities in Los Angeles County (confirm eligibility at www.myccw.us).
  • Review qualification standards on the FAQ page or at www.myccw.us.
  • Prerequisite: Applicants must demonstrate the ability to safely draw a firearm from a concealed position, shoot targets at 15, 10, and 7 yards, and achieve a score of 80% or higher. No additional prerequisite course is required for applicants meeting these criteria.
  • THIS IS NOT A BEGINNER COURSE.

Additional Information and Requirements:

  1. Classes are conducted in all weather conditions (rain, wind, or heat). If extreme weather occurs, we may cancel, but classes will proceed in heat.
  2. Bring up to six firearms you wish to include on your CCW permit (must be between .22 and .45 caliber). Ensure all firearms are UNLOADED. Leave ammunition in your vehicle and have your ID ready at check-in.
  3. You must bring a Kydex IWB (inside-the-waistband) holster, which will be inspected for safety. Holsters must comply with department guidelines and should be the ones you plan to use when carrying concealed. NO leather, nylon, fabric, belly band, or collapsible holsters.
  4. Outside-the-waistband, thigh-rig, or off-body holsters are prohibited. Holsters must have retention or adjustable retention features.
  5. You will qualify on our designated range with a passing score of 80% or higher using a B27 target. Firearms must use standard iron or holographic (RMR Optic) sights; lasers are not permitted for qualification.
  6. Bring a minimum of 50 rounds per firearm for qualification. No ammunition is sold at the range.
  7. Qualification includes three tasks:
    1. From 15 yards, fire six rounds from a holstered position, reload, and advance to 10 yards as directed.
    2. From 10 yards, fire six rounds from a holstered position, reload, and advance to 7 yards as directed.
    3. From 7 yards, fire six rounds, including two headshots, until ammunition is expended. Clear and show a safe firearm afterward.
  8. Failure to bring all required equipment (firearms, holsters, ammunition, etc.) or failure to meet safety and qualification standards will result in non-issuance of a CCW course completion certificate.
  9. Wear appropriate attire: closed-toe shoes, sturdy pants with belt loops, and no sweatpants. A baseball cap is recommended to shield you from the sun and hot brass. Avoid tank tops or low-cut shirts.
  10. Please download, complete, and bring both waivers located at the bottom of this page. One is a "Hold Harmless" agreement for the range, and the other is a Risk Waiver for Fight or Flight.

Class Details:

Arrive by 8:30-08:45 AM for check-in; the class runs from 9 AM to 5PM. Bring lunch, snacks, and water, as this is a working lunch. Eye and ear protection, your firearm, and hydration are also required. 

Fees:

1 person - $250 per day

2 people - $225 each per day

3-4 People - $200 each per day

5 or more - $175 each per day

Cancellation Policy:

If you cancel your reservation at least 72 hours in advance, you will receive a refund minus a $25 administrative fee.

Cancellations made less than 72 hours in advance or failure to attend (no-show) are non-refundable. We appreciate your understanding, as considerable effort goes into preparing these classes, coordinating the venue, and scheduling our instructors. Late cancellations and no-shows not only disrupt our planning but also take away the chance for someone else to participate.
